Release 1.7 now brings support for R19, including being able to paint on Reflection Layers. Lots of improvements for 3D PDF exporting including new options for the Export Tag, handling of UV Tiling and Offsets, support for specular and color from the Reflection Layers. Plus a whole lot more...

R19 Support

Release 1.7 now includes support for R19. There is now a separate build for every version of Cinema 4D included in the download. Choose the one for your version, delete the rest, and start creating.

 

3D PDF Additions

UVs

  • Fixed the handling of the TextureTag Offset and Tile settings for UV mapping.

Export Tag Additions

  • Export Tag now has new Object and Object Children options.
  • Disable 'Object' to stop the object, that the tag is on, from being exported.
  • Disable 'Object Children' to stop it from exporting this objects children.

Reflection Layer Support

  • Support for getting specular from the first found Reflection Layer, that is not a diffuse layer. IE Beckman, GGX, Phong, Ward, Specular Blinn (Legacy), Specular Phong (Legacy).
  • Support for getting a color and color texture from the first found diffuse Reflection Layer. IE Lambertian or Oren-Nayar.
  • Mask images are also supported on Reflection  Layers.
 

Sculpting additions

Sculpt Animator

A controller object that can be used to directly animate the sculpt layers on an object.

  1. Choose the level you wish to animate at.
  2. Create Sculpt Layers for that level and sculpt on the layers.
  3. Add a Sculpt Animator object to your scene.
  4. Drag and Drop the sculpted object into the Sculpt Animator.
  5. All the Layers from the current subdivision level will be displayed.
  6. Animate your layers.

Duplicate Sculpt Layer

A new command to duplicate the currently selected Sculpt Layer.

If you have the Base Layer selected then a new layer will be created that uses the sculpting detail from the current level on the Base Layer.

 

Reflection LAyer Support

  • Added support for painting on reflection layers.
  • Reflection Layers are now displayed in the Material View when selected.
  • Reflection Layers are now displayed in the Painting (Beta) tab of the Material View  when selected.
  • Bleed now works on Reflection Layers.
  • Support for Exporting Color and Specular to 3D PDF.

Material View

  • Added a refresh button to the top of the material view to allow you to refresh when you add, or change, reflection layers.
  • A new 'Paint All' button has been added to the Material View to enable all materials on the selected object for painting. All materials will have their 'Texture Preview Size' set to 'No Scaling' and all materials will be enabled for painting.
  • New Right Click menu commands: 'New Material No Scale' and 'New UDIM No Scale'. These commands will create a new material with a selection tag and move the UVs to the new material without scaling them to fit the texture. The 'New Material' and 'New UDIM' commands are still present and will scale the UVs to fit the new texture.
  • A 'Save All Textures' button as been added to the Material View to save all currently loaded textures. Cinema 4D does not always associate textures with a document, this allows you to force save all open textures to ensure you don't loose any work.
 

Draw Objects

A small improvement for Draw Objects is the ability to hold down the Ctrl key while drawing a Sphere to have it placed on top of the world plane, instead of centered.

content View

You can now Drag and Drop 360 and HDR images from the Content Dialog into a texture slot. For times when you don't need to use the TexCon tags.

Material View

  • Added a new Sculpting Section
    • Fill Sculpt Layer: Copy the Sculpting data from the currently active sculpt layer on the sculpt object onto a paint layer or paint mask.
    • Fill Sculpt Mask:  Copy the Sculpting Mask  from the currently active sculpt layer on the sculpt onto a paint layer or paint mask.

Material View Bug Fixes

Octane

  • Added Undo/Redo support for the Octane Live View for painting.

Paint Brush

  • Now respects the Mask on a Sculpted Object. It will not paint where there is a mask.
  • Now respects hidden polygons.
  • Stencil Tab now has a command "Set From Canvas". This will set the stencil to be exactly the same as the Canvas that is displayed in the Viewport. A canvas can be used to overlay an image which is useful when sculpting. But previously you would have to recreate the image again in using the Stencil Tab, this new option will make the Stencil be the same as the Canvas, you can then remove the canvas it self and use the Paint Brush to apply the texture.

Team Render Client Support

  • You can now use 4D Publish on all your Team Render Clients. No additional licences required.
